As you read earlier, I visited the Varpalota, Hungary church project a few weeks ago. The pastor shared with us the need for 25,000 dollars to pay for the bond beam and the concrete for the second floor, as well as money for the roof. The second floor has to be poured before the teams come in the fall, or they will have nothing to do. So, the church began praying and believing God (as they have done for everything so far). Well, I just received this e-mail from Rick Wislocky, missionary in Hungary, about this situation. Rick writes:
"I just wanted to send a quick note regarding the Varpalota project. As you know they needed $25,000 in order to prepare the floor of the second level so that the work could move ahead when the teams arrive in the Fall. My parents were here for a visit not long ago and we made a trip to the crystal shops in Ajka. En route I felt led to take a detour and show them this project that we are working with. My dad was very touched by the sacrifice and enthusiasm of the people to be there doing the work themselves. As we left the site and talked about the pressing need for these funds my dad said he would pledge the $25,000. PTL! He will be sharing this need with their church later this month. He said he will make up the difference if it doesn't all come in, so there is no worry that the funds will not be available when we need them. I spoke at the church yesterday and shared this news with the pastor and congregation. Needless to say there was much rejoicing in the service! The pastor did not know what I was going to share and early on in the service he shared that he had just received word from the grant office that a govt. grant they thought they were receiving for $5,000 for the roof was actually recalculated and they would be receiving $20,000. However, this was based on them getting the $25,000 they needed to begin the second level in a reasonable amount of time or they would lose this money. He was asking the body to pray so they would not have to forfeit these funds. Their prayers had already been answered and they did not know it. All in all it was a great day. Just wanted you to be aware of some of the testimony surrounding this project. This work should be completed mid-July so this will allow plenty of time before the teams arrive. Incidently, the funds will not be needed until the work is completed so we are in good shape."
The Lord is faithful, Amen! What an exciting testimony. It is awesome that we can all be a part of what God is doing here in Central Europe!
